Winter Paintball

The End? Paintball, dead as the leaves in winter?

Summer is over and fall is soon going to turn into winter, and you're thinking the only place to play paintball now is to play indoors which cost more. Thinking about playing outdoors but think its going to be a impossible to have a good time? So is paintball dead during the winter?

Nope. Paintball is very much alive during winter. If you know what to do, paintball and winter go together like bread and butter. Snow can even make it more fun and challenging. Here are some tips that will help you face freezing temperatures and snowy fields this winter.

Dress to Kill

Your playing a sport in freezing weather- so dress for it! Wear layers, it is critical in winter sports. Wear thermal underwear if you can. Wear sweaters. If it gets too warm, you can always take a layer off, but if you don't have layers on, you'll just feel miserable in the cold, and wont be able to move thus getting tagged more. A one piece ski-do suite is good, warm air in the suit is even all over. A bonus to wearing all these cloths is that balls will bounce off you easier, and the sting of them is dulled. Diving behind a bunker may be easier for you also because of the think cloths and the snow on the ground.

Keep you fingers warm and responsive

For your hands wear some good gloves. There are some great hunting gloves around pick up a pair, many are water proof. A trigger finger numbed from the cold isn't going to do you much good. Keeping your hands warm is very important. You need gloves that allow you fit your finger around the trigger and that aren't so thick or awkward that you have to take them off just to reload your hopper, for this hunting gloves are best.

Keep your feet dry

For your feet, warm socks and winter boots something sturdy and waterproof. You might not feel as agile but everyone else your playing with this (or should be) wearing winter boots, so you'll all have to deal with that minor issue.

Don't forget your noggin!

For your head, it's winter time, wear a winter hat! A stocking hat can make a big difference in your comfort level when playing in the cold. A lot of heat is lost from your head. If its sunny, you may want to wear some sun glasses, because the sun will be glaring on the snow. A sunny winter day some times can be a very warm like comfortable weather, have a ball cap just in case you are getting over heated with that wool hat. Its better to have that ball cap just in case.

Don't forget spares!

Bring a change of socks. If your feet get sweaty or snow falls into your shoes, wet socks in the cold can make you feel miserable. Easily fixed by putting on some clean, dry socks. If your diving in the snow and crawling around a lot, you may even want to duck-tape the bottom of your snow pants to your boots. This will prevent any snow from getting up your legs and in your boots.

Other Tips

Bunkers can be made quickly and easily, with snow forts! And they dont cost a thing!

Don't be idle

Warm up. Jog a bit, do some jumping jacks, anything to get your body ready for the game. Also, rotate your ankles before you play so you won't sprain yourself if you slip. Its winter; there's ice somewhere there.

Care for a cuppa?

Bring along something warm in a thermos. Between games, sipping on some coffee or hot chocolate will make the cold much more bearable. Also if you have something like a tent for getting in out of the wind (if any) will make if better of long periods of winter paintball.

Not all paintball's were created equal

Buy the paintballs that will perform in the cold. Not all paintballs are made to withstand winter temperatures. Spend the extra money for the icy paint.

Pushing the limits

Be kind to your equipment. Plastic turns brittle when it's cold, so if you aren't careful, things like your $120+ hoppers or loaders can crack. Try to keep everything protected and dry.

Some good tips. Just a FYI, you should probably give your stuff a proof read before you post it.
