The Tippmann TPX Review
By: Corner Brook Woodsball

First impressions:
This marker looks AWESOME. I like the style better than the T8. It's very comfy to hold and the Mag release is super slick. It's got a good solid feel in the hand, it's not at all flimsy or cheap feeling, even the mags are ok despite what some are saying. Yes, the T8 feels more solid, but it's made of metal and weighs 2 or 3 pounds more!
I don't like the chrome trigger, hopefully there are some custom parts come out on the market to change or add on to this marker. The 12 grams are easy and quick to change.
Trial:
So I take the marker out of the box and pop in a Crossman 12 gram and a loaded mag. I pull the trigger and hear the pressure come on. I fire off 2 shots and then nothing? Puzzled and concerned (I've heard some rumors about some poor performing markers) I pop in another 12 gram and mag. Pull the trigger and 8 perfect head shots from 50 feet. Pop in another mag and another 8 bulls eyes. Third mag, first 5 shots are fine but the last three are increasingly weak.
All 12 grams since have had similar performance. Tippmann rates the TPX at 19 shots/12 gram but I'm actually getting 21! 19 is probably a minimum that we should get from a 12 gram. This marker fires with slight kick. Its weight is very good making it very quick and intuitive to wield. I Broke one ball and had to disassemble and clean the marker, it was not not nearly as complex inside as I had assumed. The tear down was fairly simple and straight forward and then reassembly was no more challenging.

Final thoughts:
Tippmann has delivered a fine marker here. It shoots accurately and well straight out of the box. It had decent efficiency and constant air capable, Gas conserving firing action which is a very nice feature. Great little ammo load windows including one that shows if there is a ball in the breech which is very helpful. And on top of all that it comes in a nice carrying case.
The price of the TPX went up as the release dates were pushed back but considering the mags are half the price of the T8's, The TPX qualifies as a good buy. When you add in Tippmann's legendary customer service, it's money well spent and certainly the nicest looking pistol on the market. If the TPX proves itself in the long term, it may well become the 98 Custom of paintball pistols. Easily a match for the T8 and possibly the "best" paintball pistol on the market
I give the TPX a 9/10.
